Membership in CPRS provides exceptional value at every stage of your career, and is open to practitioners engaged in the field of public relations, as well as for students enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies that have an interest in pursuing a communications-related career. Professional Development
CPRS Ottawa-Gatineau hosts several professional development events throughout the year, covering the critical issues and essential skills relevant to today’s PR professionals. These workshops and seminars are offered at a reduced cost, or are often free for registered members. And don’t forget, just around the corner: Conversations 2013 – the 2013 CPRS National Conference, June 9-11, right here in the National Capital Region.

Networking
As a member of CPRS, you’re part of an extensive national network of more than 1,600 public relations professionals, spanning a wide variety of sectors and representing a broad base of knowledge and expertise. On a local basis, CPRS Ottawa-Gatineau organizes a number of social events and networking opportunities each season, so you can develop and nurture connections with other communicators here at home.

Accreditation
CPRS members are eligible to become Accredited in Public Relations (APR), an industry standard for measuring professional excellence in communications. Earning the APR designation demonstrates professionalism and recognizes both your accomplishments and expertise. CPRS Ottawa-Gatineau is proud to have two accredited members on its board of directors, including Charlene Gaudet, APR, FCRPS – the chapter’s accreditation chair.

There’s much more to being a member of CPRS, too. For example, through our affiliation with the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Global Alliance, members have access to exceptional resources and opportunities to connect with professionals from around the globe. Members also receive access to exclusive discounts on customized insurance programs and Media Relations Rating Points (MRRP) services.

Annual Fees

For new members, annual membership in both CPRS and CPRS Ottawa-Gatineau is available for $455.10. This includes an initiation fee and applicable HST. Sign up online today by clicking here. You will be visiting the CPRS National site.

Existing members can renew their membership in both CPRS and CPRS Ottawa-Gatineau for $398.80 per year. This includes applicable HST. Previous members whose memberships have lapsed for more than two years must register as a new member. You can now renew online at www.cprs.ca/renewal. To renew online you must use the unique password (a combination of a randomly-generated word and your membership number) printed on your renewal notice. Your login is your email address.

Affiliate members – NEW January 2012 - For new PR professionals employed full-time less than two years in public relations. This allows recent graduates to become members at 50% of the full member rate for two years: $227.65. After two years of membership at the Affiliate level, the member would renew as a full member.
