Manager of Print and Online Publications
The challenge
In this new position reporting to the director, Corporate Communications, you will champion the editorial vision of major corporate publications, both online and printed. You will supervise a team of editors-in-chief and will work closely with a range of internal and external partners both to optimize the value of the content appearing across uOttawa’s publications and other platforms and to ensure this content supports the University’s reputation and main objectives. You will also implement strategies to increase readership and to maintain community engagement throughout the University of Ottawa’s largest fundraising campaign. This position requires a highly motivated individual who can not only innovate during a period of transition, but also play a key role in promoting the brand of a world-class university.
The ideal profile
As the manager of print and online publications (bilingual position), you will put to good use your:
- Undergraduate degree in communications or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five or more years of experience in a leadership role in the field of communications
- Knowledge of Web writing and experience with electronic content, magazines, corporate blogs and related material
- Proven experience in research, general and promotional writing, editing and proofreading, as well as publication production
- Knowledge of search-engine optimization (an asset)
- Proven capabilities in human-resource management
- Project-management experience, with knowledge of the theories, principles, methods and techniques used to plan, design and monitor various projects and initiatives
- Proficiency in the most current word-processing software and solid knowledge of the Internet
- Demonstrated ability to write and produce high-quality materials and to develop strong content in both official languages
- Demonstrated creativity and ability in polishing and perfecting content, layout, design, graphics and marketing programs
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in team environments and under pressure
- Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written)
