Executive Director, Communications Directorate

The challenge

Reporting to the President, and Vice-President, External Relations, you will preserve, protect and enhance the corporate reputation, public profile and brand of the University of Ottawa by providing leadership and strategic direction for all communications and corporate marketing plans. As Executive Director, Communications Directorate, you will play a key role in helping to develop and implement a leadership communications framework to promote the University as the leading dynamic, bilingual and multicultural institution in Canada.

The ideal profile

As Executive Director, Communications Directorate, in this bilingual position, you will put to good use your:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications from a recognized university or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ten or more years of experience in providing expert advice on corporate communications, public affairs, and information or issues management to high-profile stakeholders
  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of strategic communications and marketing plans
  • Strong experience in issues and crisis management, handling sensitive and complex matters
  • Experience in human resources management and ability to resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrated experience in working within a team environment
  • Demonstrated negotiation, problem-solving and priority-setting skills
  • Long-term proven ability to build partnerships and/or collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written)
