Chapter Update: November 13, 2009

For those who are not superstitious – Happy Friday the 13th

Take the Leap… from Good to Great Conference is Back!

Those who attended our mini-conference in February 2008 will recall a great day of top-notch speakers and great networking opportunities. Set aside Friday, February 26th, 2010 and make time for yourself and your professional development.

This year’s theme is Leading the Way, a chance for all of us working in public relations or communication to increase our knowledge and skills in leadership and stay on the leading edge of our profession. We look forward to bringing you another full day of provocative and insightful speakers. Watch for early bird specials in the coming days. Benoit Laplante, CPRS member and Chair of the Organizing Committee is working diligently to bring us a strong event you won’t want to miss.

Algonquin PR Program Gala a Success!

I’m pleased to bring you a special message from Lea Werthman, APR, Public Relations Class of 1986 and Chair, PR Program 25th Anniversary Committee.

The 25th Anniversary celebrations for Algonquin’s Public Relations Program went off without a hitch on Saturday, September 19th. We had over 60 grads and friends of the program gather to celebrate our accomplishments in the community over the last 25 years – and to have a look forward to where the program is going in the next 25.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out and/or sent your wishes along. We will be putting together some photos and videos from the evening, and will send along a link when it becomes available.

Finally, many thanks to our event sponsors, CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau and Algonquin’s Alumni Association, without whom the event would not have been possible.

Regards

Léa (Gagné) Werthman, APR, Public Relations Class of 1986

Chair, PR Program 25th Anniversary Committee

Algonquin College’s PR Program Celebrates 25 great years!

Tonight I will have the pleasure of taking part in the Algonquin College PR Program’s 25th Anniversary Gala both as the President of CPRS, but also as an alumnus from the class of 1990.

CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau Chapter is a proud sponsor of the gala event – a great way to help recognize the long standing relationship we have with the program. This relationship actually dates back to 1984 when Claudine Wilson, APR, CPRS Member and the PR Program’s first Coordinator, joined the Ottawa Chapter.

Since then, PR students have been involved at all levels of the Chapter, contributing ideas, time and energy and we hope, gaining the additional skills and knowledge they need to pursue a career in public relations.

We encourage students to include our Chapter in their journey towards becoming a public relations professional.

Congratulations to the PR Program on 25 great years!
